Smallest five-star hotel in Zurich celebrates its reopening

A new gem has been added to Zurich’s hotel landscape. The Hotel Alden Splügenschloss Zürich is celebrating its reopening following a redesign. The city’s smallest five-star hotel offers a brilliant array of generously proportioned suites, each of which exercises its own special magic. Zurich’s smallest five-star hotel is housed behind the opulent façade of a listed building dating back to 1895 which is located in the elegant district of Enge. Guests can expect to find 22 individually furnished suites ranging in size from 60 to 100 square metres. All boast their own particular charm, and many retain original stucco decorations and parquet flooring. Careful restoration works have produced modern standards of comfort whilst retaining a fin de siècle allure. Historical chandeliers and ornaments from times gone by are combined with purist interior design and the high-tech facilities of the modern age. Guests seeking the convenience of a longer term stay and business travellers wishing to hold meetings in discreet surroundings will both feel equally at home.

The Alden Restaurant’s fuses modern and timeless design with a historical inside space. The à la carte breakfast, business lunch and dinner options it serves up are all lovingly and individually prepared. Each dish arrives on the table perfectly plated and presented. The stylish bar provides a venue to meet up for an aperitif or for one of the hotel’s sophisticated signature drinks, which also feature a distinctive Euro-Asian touch.

The hotel is the first in Switzerland to become part of the prestigious Leonardo Limited Edition brand, a collection of carefully curated individual hotels with their own character and history. It is Leonardo Hotels’ third hotel in the country. The spectrum of Leonardo Limited Edition extends from a city palace all the way to a Grand Hotel in a beach location. The Nikolai in Hamburg and the Hotel Mannheimer Hof are the brand’s representatives in Germany thus far. Internationally, it also includes icons such as The Grand in Brighton and The Midland in Manchester.

“We are incredibly proud to open the Hotel Alden Splügenschloss Zürich as our first Leonardo Limited Edition hotel in Switzerland,” said Yoram Biton, Managing Director Leonardo Hotels Central Europe. “This is a particularly historic hotel which adds an international level five-star establishment to our portfolio. We expect that further reopenings under the Limited Edition brand name will take place in Europe over the course of the year.”

The declared policy of Marc Brunner, Director of the Hotel Alden Splügenschloss Zürich, is to deliver the highest level of quality and attentive service. “Anyone staying with us should feel that they are amongst friends,” he explains. “We aim to offer our guests an unforgettable experience by providing a multitude of services and cleverly conceived amenities.”
