On your marks, get set, go! Leonardo Hotels staff to take part in the 2012 Gillette Marathon on 30th March in Tel Aviv
Germany, March 2012 – Out of their office chairs and into their running shoes! That’s what numerous employees of the prestigious Leonardo Hotels chain have been doing recently, as they prepare for the 2012 Gillette Half Marathon on 30th March in Tel Aviv. The sporty members of staff – ranging from Front Office Manager to Head of Revenue & E-Commerce – will be competing against 25,000 other participants from all over the world, including their Israeli colleagues, staff from the Fattal Hotels group.
The idea of taking part in the marathon came from Daniel Roger, General Manager Leonardo Hotels Europe: “In my eyes a marathon is the perfect team-building exercise. The training alone for such a long-distance run intensifies communication and collaboration and battling against the kilometres together bonds the team, even over and above everyday business routine. It also helps foster intercultural interaction between the European and the Israeli employees of the Fattal Group and familiarisation with people and country. We are therefore delighted to be taking part in the marathon, which will also be linked with a comprehensive supporting programme in Tel Aviv.” Anybody at Leonardo Hotels who had the desire and commitment to train regularly, both individually and as part of the team, was able to apply to take part. There were weekly training sessions as preparation for the marathon for the 12 employees from Germany and Belgium. The stay in Tel Aviv and travel to Israel are being completely taken care of by Leonardo Hotels.
